The parents of a Florida man who shot his four children to death in a car accident and then committed suicide are blaming his estranged wife, a state judge said Thursday.
Kim Kardashian and her four children were killed when her SUV slammed into two other cars in the back of her father’s car in June 2016, leaving his estranged husband with a fatal wound, a Broward County judge ruled.
The judge’s ruling in the family’s case was the first in the state for parents of an alleged wrongful death to get their children’s custody back.
The judge, Judge Jennifer Loeffler, said in her ruling that Kardashians ex-husband, Robert, has a long history of mental illness and his current wife, who is also an alleged felon, also has a history of violence against children.
She said Kardashiys ex-wife has repeatedly used violence against the children, and that the children are suffering as a result.
The ruling came after Kardashiais family, who are all black, had asked that Kardas parents be released.
Judge Loefler said Kardashes ex-wives’ actions in the months leading up to the crash led to a violent situation and led to her husband’s killing.
Kardashias ex- wife and children, who were not named, had filed for divorce in July.
Kardashia was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison in 2016.
